Clinical Supervision
My approach to supervision is supportive, reflective and collaborative. I trained in a humanistic, person-centred approach and work integratively, allowing me to work with counsellors from different modalities and tailor supervision to their individual needs.
Supervision provides a space to explore client work, reflect on your practice, consider ethical and professional issues, develop your knowledge and skills, and support your ongoing professional development. It can also provide a space to explore challenges, build confidence and consider the impact of the work on you as a practitioner.
I value getting to know the counsellor behind the work, recognising that supervision is not only about the clients we work with, but also about supporting you as a practitioner. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive and appropriately challenging space where you can think openly about your practice, learn, develop and continue to work safely and effectively with your clients.

A few things you might be wondering?

My own training is humanistic-existential, with a particular preference for a person-centred approach, and I work integratively within my counselling and supervision practice.
I recognise that counsellors often value supervision from someone who is trained within the same therapeutic modality, as this can provide a shared language and understanding of the theoretical framework underpinning their work. However, there can also be significant value in working with a supervisor who brings a different perspective and way of thinking.
My integrative approach allows me to work with counsellors from a range of therapeutic modalities, while remaining respectful of the theoretical framework and approach that informs their practice. Supervision can provide an opportunity to explore your work from within your existing modality, while also offering a different perspective where appropriate.
I see this balance as an important part of effective supervision. My role is not to impose my own therapeutic approach, but to work collaboratively with you, offering reflection, challenge and alternative perspectives where these may support your learning, professional development and clinical practice.

Supervision is a unique relationship. You need to feel safe, respected and valued, and you need to feel able to bring not just successes but also the moments that feel messy, or uncertain. If you’re not sure I’m the right supervisor for you, we can have an initial conversation to explore that together. It’s important that supervision feels like a good fit for you and your professional needs.
-
Of course. Yes, we can arrange an initial conversation so you can get a sense of how I work and whether it feels like the right fit for you and your professional needs.
The initial conversation is a chance for us to talk through what you’re looking for in supervision, discuss your course or caseload if relevant, and explore how often supervision might need to happen to support your practice. It’s also your opportunity to ask me any questions about my approach, availability or experience. There’s no obligation to proceed afterwards. It’s simply a space to decide together whether the supervision relationship feels right for you.

Person-centred counselling means you are at the heart of the process. There’s no judgement or pressure. We’ll work together to understand what’s going on for you at a pace that feels comfortable, with you deciding what feels important to explore.
